Presbyterian Hospital and Doctors Will Still See You.
You Just Need to Transition Your Coverage.
According to multiple New Mexico news reports, Presbyterian Senior Plan is exiting Medicare Advantage on January 1, 2027 — but Presbyterian Hospital and your doctors are staying. Many Medicare Advantage plans available in your area include Presbyterian providers — we verify this for your specific doctors before you enroll. We help you find the right one, keep your same doctors, and enroll before the deadline. At no cost to you.
What's Actually Happening
According to reports from NM Political Report, KOAT Action 7 News, and the Albuquerque Journal (sources below), Presbyterian Senior Plan — one of the largest Medicare Advantage plans in Bernalillo County with over 30,000 enrollees — is exiting the Medicare market on January 1, 2027. If you're enrolled, your plan ends. But your Medicare does not.
You will receive a non-renewal notice in the mail. It can feel alarming, but this is a normal part of how insurance plans enter and exit a market. What matters now is that you act before the enrollment deadline.
The good news: you have real choices — and we sit down with you, line by line, to find the plan that protects what matters most to you.
Important: Your Doctors Are NOT Leaving
- Presbyterian Hospital stays open — the hospital and health system are not affected
- Your Presbyterian doctors stay — many new plans include Presbyterian providers in their network
- Your prescriptions can transfer — we compare every plan's drug formulary against your current medications
- You keep original Medicare — only the Advantage plan wrapper is changing
- Help is free — our service costs you nothing
Special Opportunity
You May Qualify for a One-Time Guaranteed Issue Medicare Supplement
Because Presbyterian Senior Plan is involuntarily leaving the market, affected members have a federally-protected Guaranteed Issue right — meaning insurance companies cannot deny you coverage or charge you more based on pre-existing conditions. This is a rare, time-limited window to enroll in a Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plan with no medical underwriting. Once this window closes, it may not come again.
This right is triggered by your plan's exit date. We'll walk you through exactly how to use it before it expires.
Presbyterian Senior Plan is leaving. Presbyterian Health System is staying. We'll help you find a new plan that keeps your same doctors and covers your drugs.

"Patients impacted will need to find coverage next year. Coverage for 2026 will stay the same." — Dr. Rishi Sikka, President & CEO, Presbyterian Healthcare Services, June 2, 2026
Presbyterian Healthcare Services announced on June 2, 2026 that it will exit the Medicare Advantage market effective January 1, 2027 — following a $568.2 million loss in 2025. The decision affects approximately 30,000 enrollees across New Mexico who will need to select a new plan during the upcoming Annual Enrollment Period.

Presbyterian will continue to offer Medicare Advantage Dual Plus Special Needs Plans (D-SNP) only.

The cuts will void approximately $59 million in annual Medicare Advantage losses. "This decision is not impacting any clinical roles, nor is it impacting anything around the delivery of care," Sikka told the Journal.
